About:Energy, a world-leading innovator in battery development software, today announced the launch of The Voltt, an all-new, web-based platform and toolset that enables engineers to virtually test and compare battery cells under real-world conditions.
The launch of The Voltt directly addresses the toughest strategic choice in battery programs: cell evaluation. Historically, fragmented data and lengthy physical testing cycles have made selecting the right cell slow, expensive, and risky. About:Energy states its new platform provides a faster, singular route to the right decision, without the need for additional complex software.
The cutting-edge platform has already proven its value with early customers, demonstrating measurable savings of up to six months in the selection timeline. These faster, “first-time-right” choices deliver crucial performance advantages across range, lifetime, cost, and charging capabilities.
Unmatched Data Powers Virtual Testing
Built on About:Energy’s trusted, validated cell model library, The Voltt allows engineers to model, test, and compare cells using custom drive cycles and mission profiles. This deep validation comes from data collected from thousands of batteries and the equivalent of centuries of testing at the company’s flagship London laboratory.
The platform provides access to more than 30 high-performance cell models—including those from partners like Molicel, Amprius, Enpower-Greentech, and Inobat—geared towards demanding verticals such as drones, aviation, space, and motorsport.
Dr. Gavin White, Co-founder and CEO of About:Energy, emphasized the commercial impact of the launch. “The Voltt is about transforming the economics of battery programmes for decision-makers,” he said. “By giving leaders the evidence to choose the right cell at the outset, we’re empowering them to make decisions that unlock performance and commercial advantage without costly trial-and-error.“
Bridging the Data Gap for Engineers
The launch marks a strategic expansion for About:Energy, moving from bespoke data services into scalable software tools. It also comes as the company continues a rapid growth phase, having grown by more than 50% over the past year with key senior hires and guidance from advisors like Thierry Bolloré (former CEO of Jaguar Land Rover) and Tudor Brown (Co-founder of ARM Holdings).
Lorenzo Bergamaschi, The Voltt Product Lead, explained how the platform empowers engineers facing tight deadlines: “Engineers are under huge pressure to make high-stakes choices quickly, often without full system-level data… The Voltt bridges that gap by giving them validated data and clear insight so they can evaluate options confidently and design better systems from the start.”
The product’s efficacy has been field-validated through recent collaboration with Quantum Systems’ EFT drone battery division, proving that trusted simulation can de-risk critical design decisions.
To mark the launch, The Voltt is publicly viewable, and About:Energy is offering a 14-day free trial for users who sign up for full platform functionality. The company is also exhibiting at The Battery Show North America 2025 from October 6th to 9th at the UK Pavilion, Stand 3222.
