RedEarth Drives Australia’s V2G Revolution

RedEarth Energy Storage, an Australian battery and energy management company, is at the forefront of the vehicle-to-grid (V2G) revolution. By partnering with ambibox, RedEarth is set to manufacture bi-directional EV chargers locally, enabling Australian EV owners to harness the power of their vehicles.

Unlocking the Potential of V2G

V2G technology empowers electric vehicles to act as mobile energy storage devices, feeding electricity back into the grid during peak demand or low renewable energy generation. This innovative approach offers numerous benefits:

  • Grid Stability: V2G can help stabilize the grid by providing additional energy storage capacity.
  • Reduced Reliance on Fossil Fuels: By utilizing stored energy from EVs, V2G can help reduce reliance on fossil fuels and contribute to a cleaner energy mix.
  • Enhanced Energy Independence: EV owners can potentially power their homes using their vehicle’s battery, reducing reliance on traditional grid power.

RedEarth’s Pioneering Role

RedEarth’s partnership with ambibox will enable the local production of bi-directional EV chargers, making V2G technology more accessible to Australian EV owners. These chargers will be compatible with a wide range of EVs, including popular models from Ford, Volkswagen, Hyundai, and Tesla.

Charles Walker, co-founder and CEO of RedEarth, expressed excitement about the partnership: “RedEarth’s partnership with ambibox opens new opportunities for electric vehicle owners to use their EVs as private power plants. This, combined with the growing adoption of rooftop solar and home batteries, will optimize the returns for EV owners and homeowners with behind-the-meter assets.”

RedEarth anticipates that the three-phase EV charger will be available in the second quarter of 2025, while the single-phase version is expected to be available in the fourth quarter. Pricing details have not been officially released, but estimates suggest a cost around $5,000 AUD, making V2G technology more affordable for Australian EV owners.

The Future of Energy

As the adoption of electric vehicles continues to accelerate, V2G technology has the potential to revolutionize the energy landscape. By unlocking the energy storage capacity of EVs, V2G can help integrate renewable energy sources, reduce emissions, and enhance grid resilience.

RedEarth’s commitment to V2G technology positions Australia as a leader in the global shift towards a cleaner and more sustainable future.
