ADNOC & Terra Tech Launch First Abu Dhabi Battery Swap Station

Abu Dhabi has taken a major step toward supporting its electric vehicle (EV) goals with the launch of the capital’s first battery-swapping station for electric motorbikes. The pioneering facility is the result of a strategic partnership between ADNOC Distribution, acting as a key infrastructure enabler, and Terra Tech Ltd., a specialist in battery-swapping technology.

The new station is located within one of ADNOC’s flagship service stations, placing this cutting-edge solution at a highly visible and accessible point for riders. It is specifically designed to serve the rapidly growing community of last-mile delivery riders who use battery-powered electric motorbikes across Abu Dhabi.

Swapping Batteries in Seconds

This technology directly addresses the crucial issue of vehicle downtime for delivery fleets. Instead of waiting hours for a battery to charge, riders can now swap depleted batteries for fully charged ones in seconds.

This rapid exchange drastically reduces operational downtime, cuts local emissions, and supports the transition away from conventional fuel mobility for commercial purposes.

Expanding into Abu Dhabi is a pivotal step in Terra Tech Ltd.’s journey to build future-ready electric mobility infrastructure across the UAE,” said Husam Zammar, Founder of Terra Tech Ltd. He highlighted that ADNOC Distribution’s extensive service station footprint provides a powerful platform to reach riders where they are.

A Blueprint for Scaling Sustainable Mobility

The collaboration illustrates how established energy networks are rapidly evolving to accommodate the UAE’s clean transport ambitions. By integrating Terra Tech’s technology into ADNOC’s trusted service stations, the partnership gains immediate scale and credibility, which is essential for accelerating adoption.

This launch directly aligns with ambitious government mandates. Abu Dhabi Mobility aims for 50% of vehicles to be electric by 2040, complementing the UAE’s broader commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

The new facility provides a smarter, faster, and more sustainable alternative for delivery fleets. Through innovative infrastructure like this Abu Dhabi Battery Swapping station, the partners are actively helping the capital meet the practical demands of businesses while driving national progress toward a cleaner, more resilient transport ecosystem.
