CTEK has expanded its professional charging portfolio with the launch of the CHARGESTORM CONNECTED 3i (CC3i). Debuted at the Elmässan Syd trade show in Sweden, the new variant introduces integrated touchscreen technology designed to meet evolving European regulatory standards for public infrastructure.
The CC3i is built upon the established CHARGESTORM CONNECTED 3 platform, maintaining dual 22 kW AC charging capabilities and load-balancing compatibility. The “i” variant marks a shift toward enhanced user interface and cybersecurity at the point of charge.
Addressing Payment Security via Dynamic QR Codes
The CC3i transitions from static to dynamic QR codes for ad-hoc payments—critical as operators face “quishing” (QR phishing) attacks where fraudulent stickers overlay legitimate ones.
CC3i generates rolling, encrypted QR codes directly on the display, ensuring each payment link is unique to the specific charging session and eliminating physical tampering risks.
Strategic Alignment with AFIR
Timed for the EU’s Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR) rollout, the CC3i delivers:
- Pricing Transparency: Real-time energy consumption, duration, and costs displayed
- Ad-hoc Access: Direct payment without proprietary app downloads
- Future-Proofing: Hardware-ready for ISO 15118 protocols; 2026 software updates enable Plug & Charge and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G)
