EQONIC Selected for UK Flagship Battery Innovation Programme Byline

LONDON, UK — Next-generation energy storage developer EQONIC Group has been selected to join the UK Government’s £452 million Battery Innovation Programme. Delivered by Innovate UK and supported by the Department for Business and Trade, the competitive program targets the commercial acceleration of highly scalable battery architectures within the domestic ecosystem.

EQONIC’s underlying technology aims to alleviate primary structural constraints limiting the global energy storage supply chain, specifically addressing cost volatility, safety risks, and material scarcity. The company’s hardware architecture is primarily optimized for long-duration stationary energy storage, commercial and industrial grid systems, and mission-critical power infrastructure.

Digital Twin Deployment and Lifecycle Reconfiguration

The capital injection will be used to develop a full-stack digital twin mirroring EQONIC’s proprietary manufacturing processes. This virtual modeling environment is engineered to optimize overall production efficiency, limit batch variability, and significantly compress time-to-market parameters before transferring production designs to global manufacturing partners.

Crucially, the industrial strategy integrates a reconfigurable production and disassembly line layout. By merging high-efficiency component assembly with structural end-of-life teardown methodologies under a single physical framework, the facility can manufacture, repurpose, and safely decommission battery systems within the same localized ecosystem. This cradle-to-cradle workflow positions EQONIC to comply seamlessly with emerging international regulatory requirements regarding circular battery management.

This programme is one of the most rigorous technical and commercial assessments in the UK battery sector,” said Jas Kandola, CEO of EQONIC Group. “Our selection validates not just our technology, but our commercial model. With government backing and Ellaniti’s manufacturing expertise, we are now accelerating towards large‑scale deployment with global partners.

Capital-Light Industrialization Pathway

To accelerate its commercial footprint, EQONIC has entered into a strategic collaboration with smart manufacturing and technology roadmapping specialist Ellaniti. The partnership is geared toward refining operational excellence and establishing highly repeatable industrialization pathways across diverse regional markets.

EQONIC utilizes a distributed, asset-light manufacturing philosophy. Rather than relying on high-capex, centralized gigafactory construction, the company’s manufacturing blocks are designed to integrate directly into existing production infrastructure. This localized blueprint allows parallel capacity deployment across decentralized geographies, minimizing commercial rollout risk while aligning supply with regional energy storage demand.

Target markets for the rollout encompass sectors facing immediate requirements for long-duration energy resilience, including the built environment, telecommunications infrastructure, logistics networks, defense applications, and marine systems.

EQONIC is building one of the most commercially compelling battery platforms we’ve seen – a technology that removes the material constraints holding back global storage markets,” noted Ellaniti’s Board of Directors in a joint statement. “The combination of breakthrough chemistry and a world‑class manufacturing strategy positions EQONIC to become a major player in next‑generation energy storage.
