OUD-BEIJERLAND, NL – PowerGo has commissioned a new 150 kW fast-charging station at the Jumbo Koornneef supermarket in South Holland, marking a significant step in the integration of high-power infrastructure within the retail sector.
Retail Dwell-Time Optimization
The site features four charging points with a 150 kW capacity, a strategic choice that aligns with the average “grocery dwell time” of 30 to 45 minutes. This allows customers to gain substantial range while shopping, effectively turning a routine chore into a productive charging session.
“We like to make things easy for our customers,” says Jasper van den Breukel, Coordinator of Operations at Jumbo Koornneef. “With the new chargers, they can quickly charge their car while shopping.“
The PowerGo Model
PowerGo manages the full investment, installation, and operation of the chargers. This turnkey approach allows Jumbo to offer value-added services without the capital expenditure of managing electrical infrastructure.
Key Site Features:
- 24/7 Access: The chargers are publicly accessible day and night, supporting local residents as well as shoppers.
- Solar Integration: Every kWh charged is matched with 100% renewable energy from Dutch solar parks operated by PowerGo’s parent company, PowerField.
- Brand Alignment: Hardware is finished in Jumbo’s signature branding to ensure a seamless aesthetic integration.
Expanding the Network
The collaboration is part of a broader rollout across Jumbo locations in the Netherlands and Belgium. According to Bram Vredevoort, Project Manager at PowerGo, the focus is on combining fast charging with everyday activities to make electric driving more attractive and greener for everyone.
