Taking a giant leap towards a fully electric and renewable future, Tootbus, a global leader in sustainable sightseeing, has secured approval to install rooftop solar panels on their Wandsworth depot in London. Partnering with electric fleet solutions provider VEV, this innovative project positions Tootbus at the forefront of eco-friendly tourism.
The solar panels will generate 100% clean energy to power Tootbus’ existing electric fleet. This translates to an estimated 65,000kWh of electricity produced annually, enough to power roughly 60,000 kilometers of travel per year once the entire fleet is electric.

Tootbus has consistently been a champion of sustainability. In 2021, they became the first sightseeing bus company to adopt HVO fuel, significantly reducing CO2 emissions by up to 90%. Their collaboration with VEV marks a significant step forward in electric bus implementation, extending their commitment to a greener future beyond London, as they operate hop-on hop-off tours in iconic cities like Bath, Paris, and Brussels.

The solar panel installation is just the first phase. Tootbus is dedicated to operating London’s first fully electric sightseeing bus fleet by 2029. Additional infrastructure projects are underway to support this ambitious goal.
