In a significant boost to North London’s plug-in infrastructure, TotalEnergies has announced the commissioning of 170 new charging points across 80 distinct sites in the Borough of Camden. This latest expansion includes 18 high-power rapid charging points capable of delivering 100 kW, specifically designed to support the high-turnover needs of residents, fleet operators, and private hire drivers.
The deployment brings TotalEnergies’ total operational network in the capital to over 3,000 charge points, solidifying its status as a primary partner for London’s local authorities. Notably, the new infrastructure in Camden is powered 100% by electricity from renewable energy sources, aligning with the borough’s strict environmental mandates.
Strategic Infrastructure for Urban Mobility
The 170 new units are strategically distributed to maximize accessibility. While the 100 kW rapid chargers cater to those needing a quick “top-up,” the wider rollout includes a range of power options starting from 22 kW. This tiered approach addresses the diverse charging profiles of urban users, from overnight residential charging to mid-shift commercial needs.
TotalEnergies now manages over 500 EV-dedicated bays in Camden alone. Nicolas Garnier, Managing Director of TotalEnergies Charging Solutions UK, emphasized the company’s commitment to seamless integration:
“We are delighted to continue supporting the uptake of EVs in Camden with these additional 80 sites… Whether it is for private hire drivers, fleet drivers or Camden residents, TotalEnergies ensures seamless and convenient charging options across Camden.”
Market-Leading Tariffs and Accessibility
Amid fluctuating energy costs, the operator is positioning itself as a value leader. Tariffs in the borough are set to start from 43p/kWh, representing some of the most competitive rates currently available in the London public charging market.
Drivers can locate the new sites, check real-time availability, and view specific membership tariffs via the TotalEnergies Charge Europe mobile app or the company’s dedicated web portal.
Supporting Camden’s Net Zero Ambitions
The partnership is a cornerstone of the London Borough of Camden’s Climate Action Plan. By expanding the density of reliable, rapid-charging hubs, the council aims to lower the barrier to EV adoption for those without off-street parking.
“The new rapid charge points installed by TotalEnergies will help Camden achieve our Net Zero targets,” stated Councillor Adam Harrison. He noted that the combination of attractive pricing and network reliability is essential for supporting the thousands of EV users now operating within the borough.
A Growing Portfolio in the UK
This London expansion is part of a broader “Integrated Power” strategy by TotalEnergies. While the company maintains a massive global presence with over 78,000 charge points, its UK operations are increasingly focused on bridging the gap between renewable generation and end-user consumption.
In addition to its EV infrastructure, TotalEnergies remains a major player in the UK’s energy value chain, boasting a renewable portfolio that includes 1.1 GW of gross installed capacity—largely driven by the Seagreen offshore wind farm—and a further 4.5 GW currently under development.
