General Motors (GM) and Reliant Energy have teamed up to offer a groundbreaking program that provides free nighttime charging for Chevrolet EV owners in Texas. This innovative initiative aims to make EV ownership even more affordable and convenient.
How it Works
The Reliant Free Charge Nights plan, available to Reliant electricity customers, offers a monthly bill credit that offsets the energy charges incurred from charging a qualifying Chevrolet EV between 11 pm and 6 am.
To take advantage of this offer, customers must:
- Be a Reliant electricity customer.
- Purchase a qualifying Chevrolet EV.
- Designate one EV to receive the charging credit in the GM Energy Smart Charging Portal.
A Partnership for a Sustainable Future
This collaboration between GM and Reliant demonstrates the commitment of both companies to promoting sustainable transportation and reducing carbon emissions. By offering free nighttime charging, the partners aim to encourage more Texans to embrace electric vehicles.
Aseem Kapur, Chief Revenue Officer of GM Energy, stated, “As we continue to shape the future of EV charging and energy management for our customers, our work alongside Reliant in Texas is a sign of our commitment to working with industry leaders to facilitate more solutions that make EV adoption an easy decision.”
Rasesh Patel, President of NRG Consumer, added, “With a reputation for bringing innovative new plans and products to market, Reliant continues to make power personal for Texans. We’re excited to help Chevrolet EV drivers offset the cost of charging their vehicle all while having access to a renewable electricity plan.”
This partnership between GM and Reliant is a significant step forward in making electric vehicles more accessible and affordable for Texas residents.
