AMPECO and Plugsurfing Partner to Launch Managed Roaming for eMSPs

BERLIN, GERMANYAMPECO, the leading global EV charging management platform, has announced a strategic partnership with Plugsurfing—Europe’s leading EV charging platform for businesses and a part of Corpay—to introduce a managed roaming for eMSPs option across the European market.

The collaboration provides AMPECO’s eMobility Service Provider (eMSP) customers with immediate access to more than one million charge points across 28 European countries through a streamlined Roam OCPI integration. This new managed roaming model sits alongside AMPECO’s existing self-managed and hybrid configurations, offering operators unprecedented flexibility in how they scale their charging networks.

Instant Access to Europe’s Largest Networks

Through the Plugsurfing partnership, eMSPs gain access to a network backed by over 800 international and local Charge Point Operators (CPOs). This network already serves over 2 million EV drivers and supports more than 40 emobility service providers across the continent.

Currently, the network covers approximately 78% of roaming infrastructure across Europe, including over 93% coverage for DC/HPC (High-Power Charging) in the continent’s most developed EV markets. The integration connects eMSPs to major infrastructure providers, including:

  • IONITY
  • Tesla Supercharger
  • Fastned
  • Allego

In key markets such as Germany, France, and the Netherlands, the coverage exceeds half a million charging points, ensuring that EV drivers remain connected across borders.

Operational Efficiency and Scaling

For eMSPs choosing the managed roaming model, the partnership simplifies the “back-office” complexity of cross-network charging. The system consolidates monthly invoicing, automates Charge Detail Record (CDR) validation, and handles invoice reconciliation.

Standardized tariff data from various CPOs and hubs is delivered via Roam OCPI, with updates available as frequently as every minute. This real-time data flow is essential for providing drivers with accurate pricing and availability.

The partnership with AMPECO enables eMSPs to offer broad, reliable charging access across Europe without the operational overhead of managing roaming themselves,” said Tom Rowlands, Managing Director, Global EV Solutions at Corpay. “Together, we handle the network relationships and day-to-day operations so they can focus on growing their business.

A Three-Tiered Approach to Roaming Strategy

The integration reinforces AMPECO’s commitment to flexibility. Rather than a “one-size-fits-all” approach, the platform now supports three distinct roaming strategies:

  1. Managed Roaming: Best for eMSPs requiring rapid, wide coverage with minimal operational setup through partners like Plugsurfing.
  2. Self-Managed Roaming: For operators seeking granular control over bilateral agreements and individual partnerships.
  3. Hybrid Configuration: A combination of both models, allowing operators to scale rapidly while maintaining total control over specific CPO relationships.

Stefan Ivanov, CRO at AMPECO, noted that as the European market matures, customers are demanding more direct control over their eMSP strategy. “Integrating one of the strongest managed roaming providers on the market gives many of our customers a seamless path to scale,” Ivanov stated.

Future-Ready Infrastructure

AMPECO, which serves over 200 charging network operators in 70+ markets, continues to build its software backbone with AI at its core. By offering hardware-agnostic solutions and powerful APIs, the platform allows operators to maintain full ownership of their brand and data while leveraging the massive reach of the Plugsurfing network.

The managed roaming service is available immediately to all AMPECO eMSP customers across European markets.
