Expanding Charging Options for Electric Vehicle Owners
Nissan is expanding its NISSAN ENERGY Charge Network (NECN) by integrating access to Tesla’s vast Supercharger network. This move offers Nissan ARIYA drivers significantly more charging options and greater convenience on the road.
Key Points:
- 17,800 Tesla Superchargers added to NECN: Starting December 10th, Nissan ARIYA owners will have access to a wider network of fast-charging stations.
- NACS Adapter Required: A Nissan-provided North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapter kit ($235) is necessary to utilize Tesla Superchargers. Kits can be ordered now through Nissan dealerships or online.
- Future Integration: Starting in 2025, Nissan will equip its EVs in the US and Canada with a built-in NACS port, eliminating the need for an adapter.
- Existing Network Remains Strong: The NECN continues to offer access to Electrify America, Shell Recharge, ChargePoint, and EVgo networks in the US. Canadian drivers can access ChargeHub, Shell Recharge, FLO, Chargepoint, Circuit Electrique, BC Hydro, and the IVY network.
- Seamless Charging Experience: The MyNISSAN app allows ARIYA owners to locate stations, check charging status, initiate charging sessions, and pay for electricity, all in one place.
Enhanced Convenience for EV Drivers
This collaboration between Nissan and Tesla signifies a positive step towards a more robust EV charging infrastructure. With access to a wider network of fast-charging stations, Nissan ARIYA drivers will enjoy greater convenience and flexibility on long journeys.
Nissan’s commitment to innovation extends beyond just vehicles. By collaborating with industry leaders, Nissan is actively shaping the future of electric mobility and making EV ownership a more attractive proposition for consumers.
