Driving electric just became significantly more convenient in Emmen, a city in the province of Drenthe (the Netherlands). PowerGo, a rapidly expanding charge point operator, has installed a new fast charger in the car park of the Jumbo Weerdingerstraat supermarket, streamlining the charging process for residents and visitors in the province of Drenthe.
The new publicly accessible station features a 50-kilowatt capacity and includes two charging points. This capacity allows drivers to quickly replenish their electric vehicles while completing essential tasks.
Efficiency and Customer Service
This partnership directly leverages customer dwell time, making the charging experience highly efficient. Harrold Klaver, Branch Manager at Jumbo Weerdingerstraat, highlighted the convenience factor.
“In many cases, the car is almost fully charged by the time the shopping is done. This makes charging while shopping very efficient,” Klaver stated. “With this fast charger, we’re offering an extra service to our customers.”
The fast charger ensures that charging can easily be combined with a supermarket visit, transforming the car park into a dual-purpose stop for both groceries and energy.
Dynamic Pricing Benefits Drivers
The new fast charger utilizes dynamic pricing, a key feature that links the cost of charging to the current energy market. This system allows drivers to benefit from lower rates when wholesale electricity prices drop.
The free PowerGo Charge app provides complete transparency. It offers drivers detailed insight into charging prices for the next 24 hours, enabling them to plan their charging sessions for optimal savings. Charging and payment can be completed easily using a standard charging card, tag, or directly through the app.
This installation marks a crucial step in expanding publicly accessible fast-charging options in the Netherlands, integrating EV infrastructure seamlessly into everyday retail life.
