Amphenol PowerLok DC Connectors Now Available at TME

TME’s product range now includes PowerLok™ power connectors from Amphenol GEC. This new offering comes from a renowned supplier. It primarily targets manufacturers and electrical engineers in the EV and hybrid automotive industries. Additionally, these products also suit renewable energy installations, especially energy storage systems. All introduced products belong to the same family. However, this offering divides into two main groups: PowerLok™ G2 plugs and sockets, and PowerLok™ 4.0 G2 connectors. Transfer Multisort Elektronik, operating since 1989, has grown into a dynamic global distributor of electronic and electrotechnical components. It remains a family company.

PowerLok™ G2: High-Performance for EV Power Trains

PowerLok™ G2 products are high-performance electrical connectors made using aluminum alloy. They can conduct currents up to 300A at a nominal voltage of 1kV DC. They offer a wide range of configurations, including both straight and angled versions. The assortment includes wire-mounted plugs, supporting cross-sections up to 150mm², and panel-mounted plugs. A single connector can feature 1, 2, or 3 pins. Furthermore, the body design ensures complete insulation and shielding of contacts. This protects operators and minimizes interference. These connectors boast a mechanical durability of 100 cycles.

The main applications for these products include power trains in hybrid and fully electrified vehicles. This covers passenger cars, trucks, buses, as well as agricultural machinery and off-road vehicles. Due to such demanding applications, these products achieve a protection class of IP67. This means they offer high water resistance and full dust tightness, which prevents impairment of connection conductivity. Complete water resistance is achieved when the connectors are mated.

PowerLok™ 4.0 G2: Compact Solutions for Vehicle Accessories

In contrast, the PowerLok™ 4.0 G2 sub-series powers accessories and components within vehicles. These include sensors, actuators, and servomechanisms. Consequently, their electrical parameters are slightly lower, handling currents from 5A to 60A and wires up to 10mm². However, their bodies are also smaller. Here too, a high protection class of IP69 is ensured after connection.

All PowerLok™ connectors share wide thermal tolerance. They can operate in temperatures ranging from -40°C to 125°C. Self-locking PowerLok™ 4.0 G2 connectors also feature a more compact design
