CTEK Debuts Touchscreen-Enabled CC3i Chargers in Gothenburg

GOTHENBURG, SWEDEN — The first touchscreen-integrated CHARGESTORM CONNECTED 3i (CC3i) units from CTEK are now live in Gothenburg, marking a significant shift toward more interactive and AFIR-compliant public charging.

Six dual-outlet CC3i units have been deployed at the Rosenlundsgatan parking garage, operated by ChargeNode for property owner Wallenstam. These new units join 20 existing CTEK CC2 chargers in the 74-bay facility, allowing the site to power 12 EVs simultaneously at up to 22kW via the new CC3i hardware.

Enhanced User Interface and AFIR Compliance

The standout feature of the CC3i is its large, integrated touchscreen. This interface provides drivers with real-time data on charging status, energy consumption, and pricing. Beyond aesthetics, the dynamic screen is designed to meet the European Union’s Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR) requirements, which mandate clear user information and ad-hoc payment access at the point of charge.

To combat fraud, the CC3i utilizes the screen to generate dynamic, rolling QR codes for payments. This digital approach eliminates the security risks associated with static QR stickers, such as tampering or fraudulent redirects.

Seamless “Autocharge” Technology

For a frictionless experience, the CC3i supports zero-touch Autocharge. Once a payment method is established, the charger communicates directly with the vehicle upon connection, initiating the session automatically without further driver intervention.

As property owners in Gothenburg, operational reliability and long-term performance are absolutely crucial,” said William Lagerqvist, Property Manager at Wallenstam. “What we value most about CTEK’s EV chargers is the combination of high quality, ease of use and minimal maintenance requirements.

Future-Proofing Urban Infrastructure

The installation at Rosenlundsgatan serves as a blueprint for property owners looking to balance the needs of commercial tenants, restaurant visitors, and the general public. By combining high-performance 22kW AC charging with secure, screen-based payment systems, the CC3i provides a scalable platform that evolves alongside changing regulations.

Richard Forssell, Key Account Manager at ChargeNode, emphasized the importance of the partnership: “Wallenstam wanted a long-term, low-maintenance solution that would grow with their tenants’ needs, and the CC3i gave us the right platform to deliver it.
