The fourth edition of E-Tech Europe, the international trade fair focused on the battery and electric vehicle manufacturing industry, concluded on April 16th, 2025, at BolognaFiere with significant success. The two-day event drew a large number of industry professionals and operators who explored the exhibits of over 150 companies from Italy and 13 other nations, including France, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Lithuania, Israel, India, the United States, China, and Singapore.
Notable Premieres and Key Discussions
Among the notable premieres at the fair was Bosch Engineering’s unveiling of the “Stradal-E,” the electric version of Dallara’s “Stradale” sports car, generating considerable buzz. The event also featured 14 conferences and 2 workshops, hosting over 100 high-level speakers who addressed critical topics such as the electrification of heavy-duty vehicles, advancements in battery technology and recycling processes, new components for the automotive sector, and the evolving landscape of autonomous vehicles.
Special Forums and Awards
“E-Tech Europe 2025” also hosted the third edition of the “Automotive Glass Forum,” facilitated by GlassOnline and Glass-Technology International, which focused on the latest innovations in automotive glass technologies. A new feature this year was the inclusion of collective spaces for companies and start-ups organized by Motor Valley Accelerator and the Italian Association for the Automotive Industry Supply Chain (ANFIA). ANFIA also hosted seven “Formula SAE” teams participating in the international student motorsport engineering design competition.
Adding to the event’s significance, the first edition of the “Bruno Scrosati Award,” promoted by ENEA, was presented to Elisa Emanuele, a PhD student from Politecnico di Milano, for her research on advanced battery diagnostics using 3D X-ray imaging.
Thematic Focus Areas and Power Electronics Forum
Several thematic focus areas garnered significant attention from attendees, including “Carbon Tech” showcasing carbon and composite materials, “Re-Battery” dedicated to battery recycling technologies, “Invex” highlighting electric industrial vehicles and machinery, “Auto Recyclers” focusing on the vehicle recycling industry, and “Interiors” presenting technologies and materials for automotive interiors. Simultaneously, “Fortronic Electronics Forum 2025,” Italy’s premier event on power electronics organized by the Italian Electronics District Association (ASSODEL), also took place.
Successful Inaugural “Battery Day 2025”
Prior to “E-Tech Europe,” BolognaFiere also hosted the highly attended Battery Day 2025, the first conference in Italy specifically dedicated to the battery industry. Organized by A151 in collaboration with the Battery Industry portal, the event welcomed over 150 industry professionals and featured around 25 researchers, managers, and experts. Discussions centered on the challenges and opportunities within the Italian electric battery market amidst the ongoing energy transition and strong competition from Asian countries.
Minister Urso’s Emphasis on Technological Leadership
Italian Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, delivered a special message emphasizing the government’s commitment to the sector. “The government is at the forefront in Europe in designing an industrial policy that supports a green transition that is non-ideological and sustainable, capable of balancing environmental needs, competitiveness, and social impact,” stated Minister Urso. He further emphasized the need for “common resources and a concrete commitment…to regain global technological leadership and ensure true strategic autonomy, starting with batteries.“
Event Organizers Express Satisfaction and Announce Future Plans
Marco Pinetti, the director of both “E-Tech Europe” and “Battery Day”, expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of the events. “We are very satisfied with the results of E-Tech Europe and also with the success of the first edition of Battery Day,” said Pinetti. “This double event once again proved to be a unique opportunity for business, networking, and training for all operators involved in the energy transition and in innovative technologies for battery and electric vehicle production.“
Looking ahead, Pinetti announced that preparations for the next edition of “E-Tech Europe,” scheduled for April 22nd and 23rd, 2026, alongside Battery Day, will soon commence. Additionally, BolognaFiere will host three other significant events in the mobility sector on October 8th and 9th: E-Charge, Traffic, and ZeroEmission.
