CAMBRIDGE, Mass. and OSLO, Norway, August 20, 2025 – Sense, a leader in grid edge intelligence, has partnered with Enode, a leading API platform for energy devices. The collaboration will streamline EV energy insights and controls for consumers. By integrating Enode’s API into the Sense Home app, the companies will provide EV drivers with new data and control capabilities, making charging simpler and more efficient.
Unifying Home and Vehicle Energy Data
The partnership merges Sense’s deep analytics with Enode’s extensive API library. The Enode API connects to data from over 45 EV brands and 365 EV models. This integration will allow Sense app users to see their EV charging details within the full context of their home’s energy use. It will also help users distinguish between multiple EVs in the same household. This unified view gives drivers a clear picture of their total energy consumption and how their EV fits into it.
“This partnership is a natural fit,” said Nancy Riley, Sense SVP of Product. “Sense’s deep expertise in analytics and home energy innovation, coupled with Enode’s robust suite of EV APIs, will increase the velocity of EV innovation. With our partners at Enode, we’ll provide deeper, quicker, and more actionable insights and optimizations for EV drivers and grid stakeholders.“
From Insights to Automated Smart Charging
The collaboration moves beyond simply providing data. Once users connect to Enode through the Sense app, they can access real-time EV data, including battery level, charge rate, and charging status. This unlocks the ability to use smart charging controls.
Users can set charging schedules based on preferred days, times, and battery percentage ranges. The system can also automatically start and stop charging based on time-of-use rates. This ensures EVs are charged affordably and on time, while also benefiting the wider energy grid by optimizing usage.
“We’re excited to partner with Sense to bring richer EV insights and smarter charging to their users,” said Thorvald Thorsnes, Chief Revenue Officer at Enode. “Together, we can make EV ownership simpler, more affordable, and more sustainable, all while laying the foundation for the next generation of intelligent energy services.“
Over time, the combined data will enable the creation of new tools for utilities and grid operators. These tools can influence local system reliability and help manage the growing demand on the power grid.
This partnership follows Sense’s June announcement of EV Analytics, a new load management solution for utility electrification efforts. The companies expect to release their first products and services from this collaboration starting in 2026.
