SOMERVILLE, Mass. — SparkCharge has launched operations in the United Kingdom, expanding its distributed energy network to provide mobile, AI-optimized power for autonomous vehicle operators, commercial EV fleets, construction sites and other enterprises facing delays in grid access.
The company says its managed energy model combines Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), PowerHub generation and SparkAI software to help businesses begin operations while waiting for permanent utility connections or infrastructure upgrades. SparkCharge says its AI-optimized infrastructure can be deployed in as little as seven days and later integrate with the grid when capacity becomes available.
The UK expansion builds on SparkCharge’s established presence across North America. Its services are designed for grid-constrained or grid-absent environments where traditional energy infrastructure cannot be delivered quickly enough to match operational timelines.

Our immediate focus is on the sectors where the gap between operational readiness and grid availability is widest. That means autonomous vehicle operators, commercial EV fleets, and construction and industrial sites the same core verticals SparkCharge has built its track record around in the United States.
AV operators expanding into UK cities are a natural priority. They are running the same playbook we have seen in the US: new depot locations, fast expansion timelines, and grid infrastructure that cannot keep pace with deployment speed. Commercial fleet operators in logistics and last-mile delivery are under significant mandate pressure to electrify, and their depot sites frequently lack the grid capacity to support it. Industrial and construction sites represent a third immediate opportunity; these are grid-absent environments by definition, and SparkCharge’s on-site generation capability is purpose-built for them.
2. Navigating UK Grid Constraints: How does SparkCharge’s mobile, managed energy model help UK fleet managers bypass DNO queue delays and multi-year utility upgrade timelines?
The DNO queue challenge is structurally identical to what we have been operating around in the US for years. Fleet operators are ready to electrify. The grid is not ready for them. SparkCharge’s distributed energy network was built precisely for that gap.

Once we enter a new city, our deployment model is engineered to deliver. SparkAI generates a custom infrastructure plan for the specific site before any hardware ships, accounting for fleet mix, operational schedule, available power, and site conditions. By the time equipment arrives, the configuration is already determined. There is no site construction, no trenching, no grid upgrades needed. Systems are positioned, commissioned, and operational.
On the ground in the UK, the process adapts to local site conditions, but the timeline does not change materially. These cover the majority of fleet and AV operator requirements we are fielding at launch.
PowerHub generation systems, which provide continuous on-site energy generation using flexible fuel sources for sites with no grid access at all, follow as we scale UK operations. The sequencing reflects where immediate demand is concentrated, not a limitation of the network.

5. Operational Outlook & Growth Milestones: What are SparkCharge’s key operational targets and growth milestones for the UK market over the next 12 to 18 months?
Our focus for the first 12 to 18 months is operational proof.
