PowerGo, an international Charge Point Operator (CPO), significantly expands its presence in Denmark just before the summer holidays. The company has successfully installed over 300 new electric vehicle (EV) charging points across the Jutland region. This development substantially improves charging opportunities for EV drivers in four key municipalities.
Driving an EV through Jutland is now easier than ever. PowerGo’s latest network expansion includes new charging points in Ikast-Brande, Haderslev, Varde, and Vejen. The largest rollout occurred in Ikast-Brande, where PowerGo deployed 152 charging points across 46 diverse locations. These range from 22 to 150 kilowatts (kW). In Vejen, 80 charging points deliver 22 kW. Varde received 46 charging points, offering 22 to 300 kW. Haderslev added 22 charging points, all at 22 kW.
Enhancing Accessibility and Affordability
EV drivers can conveniently charge at everyday locations. These include schools, daycare centers, town halls, and sports facilities. Charging points offer speeds from 22 to 300 kW, catering to various EV models and charging needs.
Frederikke Fog, PowerGo’s Tender Manager, expressed pride in this achievement. “We are proud that we have improved charging opportunities for EV drivers in Jutland,” Fog stated. “Accelerating the transition to green mobility is important. We must contribute to Denmark’s public charging infrastructure. One thing is certain: EV drivers should experience charging that is accessible, affordable, and green.”
PowerGo utilizes dynamic pricing to ensure fair and transparent charging costs. Prices fluctuate based on the real-time electricity price. This innovative approach encourages charging during periods of high renewable energy availability. Consequently, it helps ease pressure on the electricity grid. Charging becomes cheaper during these times. The free PowerGo Charge app provides real-time pricing information to users. Furthermore, PowerGo consistently integrates sustainability into its operations. The company exclusively uses solar energy, generated from solar parks managed by its parent company, PowerField.
Denmark’s Broader Electrification Drive
This expansion in Jutland forms part of PowerGo’s wider commitment to Denmark. The company has won 19 tenders across the country to install more than 1,600 public charging points. PowerGo actively rolls out its charging network across 16 municipalities. It also installs chargers at various highway locations for the Danish Road Directorate (Vejdirektoratet). This ensures significantly better charging options for EV drivers nationwide. More new locations remain in development, reflecting PowerGo’s ongoing efforts to expand its presence throughout Denmark.
