The international Charge Point Operator (CPO) PowerGo is significantly expanding its ultra-fast charging network with strategic new sites across Denmark, the Netherlands, Spain, and Belgium. These developments represent a crucial step in addressing the growing demand for electric mobility throughout Europe, providing electric vehicle (EV) drivers with high-speed and reliable charging solutions at convenient locations. All new sites offer charging speeds ranging from 240 to 480 kilowatts (kW).
Strategic Expansion Across Key European Markets
Denmark: PowerGo recently secured another tender from the Danish Road Directorate (Vejdirektoratet). This initiative will see the installation of 10 ultra-fast charging points across three highway locations, each equipped with chargers offering up to 480 kW. These points will be situated near Torkilstrup (Rute 21) in Seeland (two points), Aalborg (E45) in the North (four points), and Aabenraa (E45) in the south of Jutland near the German border (four points). These additions will further strengthen PowerGo’s existing highway network in Denmark, connecting with operational chargers at Lillebælt Syd on Funen and Haderup in northern Denmark.
The Netherlands: In the province of North Holland, PowerGo is establishing a charging hub at the Gasterij Vuurland event venue, strategically positioned along highway A9 near Knooppunt Beverwijk. This hub is slated for future upgrades, including a higher-capacity grid connection to enable its growth into a comprehensive logistics EV charging facility, with additional charging points for both cars and electric trucks.
Belgium: PowerGo has secured a tender for a charging hub along the E40 in Ghent, as part of “The Loop” urban development project. This hub will feature six charging points, each with a maximum capacity of 400 kW, strategically located between the N43 and the R4.
Spain: In partnership with SEITT, the Spanish state-owned company for transport infrastructure, PowerGo will install 24 charging points across six vital highway locations surrounding Madrid. These 400 kW chargers will be deployed at service areas along the R2, R3, and R5 highways, which are critical routes for traffic entering and exiting the capital.
Enhancing the Charging Experience and Sustainability
A strong emphasis has been placed on user comfort and accessibility at each new location. Most sites will offer amenities such as canopies, restrooms, additional space for disabled users, vending machines, and greenery. Some locations already include existing service areas with food, drinks, and shops. Wherever feasible, PowerGo plans to install signage displaying real-time charging prices.
PowerGo utilizes dynamic pricing, which offers EV drivers fair and transparent rates based on real-time electricity prices. This system not only encourages charging during periods of higher renewable energy availability, helping to ease pressure on the electricity grid, but also makes charging more economical during these times. Charging and payment can be conveniently managed via the free PowerGo Charge app, a bank card, or a charging card.
Further demonstrating its commitment to sustainability, PowerGo operates exclusively with 100 percent solar energy, which is generated from solar parks managed by its parent company, PowerField.
Ivo van Dam, CEO of PowerGo, affirmed the company’s vision: “With the expansion of our ultra-fast charging network along European highways, we are taking another important step towards making electric driving even more accessible for everyone. And we are far from done: more new locations will follow soon. Our focus remains on providing the EV driver with a fast, reliable, and sustainable charging experience, wherever they need it“
