Charge Point Operator (CPO) PowerGo officially opened a new public fast-charging hub at the Basic-Fit Ekeren facility in Antwerp. Strategically positioned directly next to the crucial A12 highway, the new station offers electric vehicle (EV) drivers a convenient and efficient solution for powering up in the region.
The new charging hub caters to diverse needs by featuring a combination of charging speeds. The installation includes two powerful 150-kilowatt (kW) charging points for rapid energy replenishment and five 30-kW charging points for those planning a longer stop. This configuration ensures that both gym members and EV drivers simply passing through the area can find a suitable option.
Partnership Delivers Practical Member Support
The launch marks a significant step in the ongoing partnership between the CPO and the international fitness chain, which began in 2023. Since forging the alliance, both organizations have worked diligently to install fast-charging infrastructure across various Basic-Fit locations in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Basic-Fit’s leadership emphasizes that the addition strongly aligns with their broader mission.
“We want to support our members in their fitness goals, but also in practical ways,” said Gerard van Medevoort, International Energy Manager at the fitness group. “At this new charging hub, they can charge their electric vehicles quickly and efficiently while working out. It is a valuable addition to our services and a sustainable choice that fits perfectly with Basic-Fit.”
PowerGo representatives also celebrated the versatility and accessibility of the new site.
“Whether someone makes a quick stop or spends more time at the gym, this charging hub is accessible and efficient for everyone,” stated Emiel Boudenoodt, Project Manager at the operator. “By combining different types of chargers, we can meet the diverse charging needs of EV drivers. We are very happy with the collaboration with Basic-Fit and this new location in Antwerp.”
Green Solution with Dynamic, Transparent Pricing
The company distinguishes its service through a commitment to sustainability and transparent costs. PowerGo implements dynamic charging prices, which directly reflect the current hourly electricity price. This approach benefits EV drivers by offering fair, transparent costs and actively encouraging them to charge during periods when cleaner energy is more readily available. The result: charging becomes simultaneously greener and more affordable.
Customers easily check real-time rates for the next 24 hours via the free PowerGo Charge app.
Furthermore, as part of its wider sustainability commitment, the operator powers its network using solar energy, which comes directly from solar parks managed by its parent company, PowerField.
