PUNE, INDIA — Swiss-headquartered manufacturer Feintool has officially opened its first production facility in India, establishing a local manufacturing presence within the industrial hub of Pune. The company has commenced a production ramp-up at the site to fulfill initial customer orders, focusing first on fineblanked automotive seating systems.
The expansion allows Feintool to tap into the growth of the Indian automotive market—which currently ranks as the third-largest globally—while directly supporting existing automotive customers who are expanding their own activities and export operations within the region.
Local-for-Local Production Strategy
The new Pune facility brings Feintool’s global network to 18 production sites across Europe, the United States, and Asia. Operating under a “local-for-local” regional manufacturing approach, the company aims to supply regional automotive networks directly to enhance agility and secure supply chain reliability.
While the initial phase of the facility’s production is dedicated to fineblanked automotive components, the site has been engineered to scale alongside changing regional requirements.
As demand develops, Feintool plans to expand the facility’s manufacturing capabilities into its additional core technologies, which include:
- Cold forming
- E-motor core production for electric drivetrains
- Hydrogen applications
Core Technologies and Capabilities
Feintool specializes in high-volume, precision steel component manufacturing. The company’s core technological portfolio—fineblanking, cold forming, and e-lamination stamping—supplies the automotive industry, energy infrastructure equipment providers, and high-end industrial manufacturers.
“Feintool is proud to meet its customers’ demand for local production in India with the facility in Pune,” said Lars Reich, CEO of Feintool. “We are in the right place at the right time to benefit sustainably from the momentum in the Indian automotive industry and to capitalize on further opportunities in the growing industrial markets in India.”
The Pune site launches with an established local business team managing the initial phase, positioning the plant for future technical expansions as regional automotive component demand continues to grow.
