Danlaw, a specialist in connected car technology and automotive electronics, has introduced CleverCharge, a new Level 2 home EV charging system designed to simplify charging for households with multiple electric vehicles. Unveiled at CES 2025 and recognized with a CES Innovation Award in the Smart Home category, CleverCharge offers a suite of intelligent features aimed at eliminating range anxiety and optimizing charging schedules.
Intelligent Charging Management with AI and CleverKey
CleverCharge distinguishes itself through its AI-powered charge management platform and a unique, patent-pending device called CleverKey. CleverKey plugs into the vehicle’s OBD-II port, granting CleverCharge access to valuable vehicle data. This data, combined with charging information, fuels AI-enhanced features, including:
- Proactive Charging Reminders: CleverCharge learns individual driving routines and provides timely reminders to ensure sufficient range for daily commutes and trips.
- Optimized Charging Schedules: Mobile notifications advise users on the best times to charge based on energy rates, allowing for cost-effective charging. Users can also schedule charging sessions directly through the app.
- Comprehensive Vehicle Data: The mobile app dashboard provides detailed information, including battery range in both miles and kilowatt-hours, remaining charging time, and battery health.
“CleverCharge eliminates range anxiety and ensures your EV is ready for the next day’s routine,” says Scott Bolt, Chief Strategy Officer at Danlaw. “We designed it to not only be the easiest home EV charger to install and use, but also the most powerful in terms of its capabilities.“
Seamless Multi-EV and Multi-Location Management
CleverCharge automatically identifies the make and model of each connected EV via CleverKey, creating individual profiles for each vehicle. For users with multiple CleverCharge units at different locations, the app automatically organizes chargers and EVs by location, simplifying management across various properties.
CleverCharge Specifications and Availability
CleverCharge offers flexible installation options, including hardwired and NEMA 14-50 configurations. The hardwired version supports charging speeds up to 46 mph, while the NEMA 14-50 version offers speeds up to 38 mph. The charger is compatible with both NACS (SAE J3400) and SAE J1772 connector types, ensuring compatibility with all EV types, including Teslas equipped with an OBD-II connector. The charger’s dimensions are 12x8x3.1875 inches (305x203x81 mm). CleverCharge is expected to be available in Spring 2025.
